These systems are not very common and generally require a lot of energy to operate. They were originally designed as bath heaters and sink heaters and were connected to a 415 volt ( 3 Phase ) power supply. It is likely that you will now find them in unit complexes where space is limited.
As most houses only have a 240 volt power supply it is not economical to retrofit an instant electric hot water system as a replacement for another type of hot water system. Before asking for a quote to change to instant electric hot water check to see if you have a 415 volt ( 3 Phase ) power supply.
An alternative may be a boiling water unit, – an Instant Gas Hot water System or a small under sink electric storage Hot Water System.
Older systems are not very good at controlling the temperature of the hot water. they produce. The more you turn the water on the cooler the water it is likely to get. The newer models are much more advanced and can deliver hot water at constant temperatures regardless of flow rates

- High CO2 output from the use of coal to make electricity
